238 Series

The Chelsea 238 Series PTO was developed as a direct-mount solution for standard 8-bolt transmission openings, providing a familiar installation process for users accustomed to the 489 Series. Built on the proven platform of the Chelsea 236 Series, the 238 quickly became a preferred choice for applications requiring an air-shifted 8-bolt powershift PTO. The unit was available with four internal speed ratios, five shifting configurations, twelve output options, and twenty-three input gear selections, allowing it to support a wide range of vocational truck and hydraulic system applications. A notable feature of the 238 Series was its internal self-adjusting shaft brake, which helped prevent unwanted shaft rotation when the PTO was disengaged, making it especially useful for equipment such as water pumps and transfer pumps. The Chelsea 238 Series has since been discontinued and is no longer available.
